The Role
A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to manage the strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract administration of goods and services across a large student accommodation portfolio.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring procurement activities deliver value for money, maintain quality standards, achieve cost efficiencies, and comply with procurement policies and governance requirements. You'll develop strong supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive continuous improvement across procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes for goods and services
- Obtain competitive quotations and tenders
- Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate pricing and commercial terms
- Issue purchase orders and monitor supplier performance
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation
Strategic Sourcing
- Identify and evaluate preferred suppliers
- Standardise products and specifications across the portfolio
- Consolidate procurement opportunities to achieve economies of scale
- Negotiate national supply agreements and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor market pricing, trends, and evaluate new suppliers
Supplier & Contractor Management
- Conduct supplier identification and due diligence
- Maintain approved supplier databases
- Negotiate and manage service level agreements
- Monitor supplier performance through regular reviews
- Manage supplier disputes and ensure quality, service, and delivery expectations are met
Contract Management
- Prepare and maintain supplier agreements
- Monitor contract expiry dates and coordinate renewals
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Review supplier performance against contractual KPIs
Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels and reorder requirements
- Standardise stock items and coordinate bulk purchases
- Reduce obsolete stock and support annual stock counts
Financial Management
- Monitor procurement expenditure against approved budgets
- Verify supplier pricing and identify cost-reduction opportunities
- Review procurement reports and support portfolio-wide cost-efficiency targets
Procurement Governance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, delegation of authority, and ethical standards
- Prepare monthly procurement reports, supplier scorecards, and cost savings analyses
- Maintain supplier databases and procurement records in FG Nexus and financial systems
- Support continuous improvement and procurement best practices
Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Management, Logistics, Commerce, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement or supply chain management
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and contracts
- Experience managing procurement budgets and cost-saving initiatives
- Strong procurement planning and contract negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with FG Nexus or ERP procurement systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills
- Ethical, professional, analytical, and results-driven approach
Advantageous
- CIPS qualification or currently working towards professional certification
