Lead daily opencast mining operations and drive production excellence across Limpopo's active mining areas.

About the Role

Surge Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Mining Production Supervisor to manage surface operations and oversee shift teams in a dynamic opencast mining environment. You'll be responsible for achieving monthly tonnage targets, directing Foremen and Site Supervisors, and ensuring full MHSA compliance across all mining activities. This role requires strong leadership, operational knowledge, and a proven track record in production supervision.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily production operations across all active mining areas to achieve the monthly tonnage plan
  • Directing and supervising Foremen and Site Supervisors, ensuring clear shift targets are set and understood
  • Conducting daily production meetings to review shift performance and address bottlenecks
  • Liaising with the Plant Manager on equipment availability and planning maintenance windows to minimise production impact
  • Ensuring pre-shift safety briefings are conducted for all teams before each shift commences
  • Monitoring MHSA compliance, traffic management plans and safe work procedures across all operations
  • Managing drilling and blasting block operations, production planning and scheduling

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Valid opencast blasting certificate (mandatory)
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Proven experience in opencast surface mining production supervision
  • Demonstrated experience directing shift teams, including Foremen, Site Supervisors and equipment operators
  • Strong knowledge of MHSA compliance, traffic management plans, safe work procedures and code of practice
  • Experience in drilling and blasting block management, production planning and scheduling
  • Strong production reporting, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and people-management skills
  • Knowledge of opencast mining operations and methods
  • Equipment operation knowledge
  • Relevant supervisory or mining-related qualification (e.g. Blasting Certificate, Miner's Certificate or supervisory development programme) advantageous
