Commercial Manager – Mozambique

Lead all commercial, contractual, and cost control functions on a major construction project in Mozambique, representing your organisation at the highest levels of client engagement and dispute resolution.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take overall responsibility for the management, leadership, and delivery of all Contracts & Commercial departmental functions on a significant project. You'll represent the company in all contractual and commercial interactions with the Client and act as the Contracts & Commercial representative within the Project Management Team (PMT).

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you'll lead a team including a Contracts Manager, QS Manager, Senior QS, and Contract Administrator. Your key responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage all Contracts, Commercial, Procurement, and Cost Control functions for the assigned project
• Develop and implement project commercial and contractual strategies, ensuring full compliance with Commercial and Procurement PMPs
• Ensure compliance with main contract and subcontract agreements
• Oversee claims, variations, extensions of time, and dispute resolution
• Approve budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and corrective strategies
• Represent the company in all commercial and contractual negotiations, dispute resolution, and arbitration
• Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management of Contracts & Commercial staff

Requirements

• BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
• MSc in a similar related field
• MRICS / FRICS or equivalent accreditation
• 20+ years relevant construction experience, including 5+ years in a QS Manager or Contract Manager role
• Strong contractual and commercial expertise with FIDIC, EPC, and D&B contract formats
• Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution and arbitration
• Proven leadership and client-facing experience
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary Project Management Team
